A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for counties just to the east of the Kansas City metro until 9 p.m. tonight.  The main threat with storms that do develop throughout the remainder of the day will be damaging winds, frequent lightning, small hail and heavy rainfall within some of the slower moving storms.  There are already three flash flood warnings in place as I write this post...all of which expire at 8:30 this evening.

Click here to see the latest watches and warnings

Most of the rain and thunderstorm activity should be over by 10 p.m. in the metro and by midnight for areas to the east.  Tomorrow the front will be far enough to our south that the best chance for rain should be well south of the metro.  We will also see slightly cooler temperatures for our Wednesday...and less humidity as well.

Round one of rain has finished in the metro...with some spots picking up a quick inch to inch and a half of rain. A few water rescues were performed in Kansas City as a result of flash flooding. More rain/storms have developed to the west of downtown stretching between Manhattan to Topeka. Basic movement with this next batch of rain/storms appears to be slightly north and east. It looks like we may see more rain as this complex moves towards us, this time with the north side of the metro most likely seeing the heaviest amounts. Rainfall estimates inside of this next cluster of storms range anywhere between 1-3 inches per hour based on the latest radar information. Flash flood warnings are still in place until 8:30 tonight for Johnson County, KS and Jackson County, MO.

I find it funny how Mike's blown forecast/blog entry from last night was removed. I'm NOT trying to stir anything up, but if your going to be wrong and if you are wrong just leave it up there and deal with it. It looks kinda wishy-washy when you start monitoring your own posts.

cswxchaser - That is pretty bad on the weather team's part to pull Mike's entry. Mike started his blog last night by say, "There is no chance of rain on Friday in the morning" By looking at the radar and the rain totals it seems like many several areas had rain this morning. Including 0.21" downtown.

If Mike really did pull the entry this is pathetic! You'd think he would be use to blowing forecasts by now!

I don't consider Mike a meteorologist as mush as I do an entertainer...I mean the guy is always out in left with his forecasts and is more concerned about lake outings, school day at the K and BBQ. Just an observation.

But then again I stopped watching him and Doppler Don (how funny he likes that name) just for that fact.

Wow, that is amazing that they pulled the entry entirely. I guess that's why I rarely come by this blog anymore. Joe and the interns put up good entries but other than that...

Pulling the blog about the blown forecast is pretty sad on Mike's part. I find it even worse that there is rain all over the place again, and no new blog. The current blog is 4 days old!
