College presidents from about 100 of the nation's best-known universities, including Duke, Dartmouth and Ohio State, as well as
Avila University in Kansas City
are calling on lawmakers to consider lowering the drinking age from 21
to 18, saying current laws actually encourage dangerous binge drinking
on campus.
What do you think? Would starting to drink earlier actually keep kids from overdoing it later? Or, would it just make things worse?

HAYS, Kan. (AP) -- A YouTube video of a Kansas professor mooning a room full of students and faculty during a debate has led to two university investigations.
The video shows Fort Hays State University debate coach William Shanahan in a profane, in-your-face argument with his counterpart from the University of Pittsburgh, Shanara Reid-Brinkley.
The video shows Shanahan bending over and pulling down his khaki shorts, exposing his underwear.
What do you think about this? All fair in the arena of debate??? Or has this prof. crossed the line???

David didn't defeat Goliath. But, he at least stayed standing.
Maybe you've heard of this story: KU sued Joe-College.com, a local Lawrence T-shirt shop, over trademark infringement. KU said the T-shirt maker sold shirts too close to its own. Shirts with the color blue, or the words Kansas on them.
Today, a jury awarded KU $127,000 - about a fourth of what they were asking for. And, the jury said most of Joe-College's shirts were okay to keep selling.
Joe-College's attorney said the T-shirt titan will stay in business. So, what do you think? Is KU being a bully? Or protecting its name and reputation?

Is this what the Missouri Board of Pharmacy should be doing? It's telling a restaurant owner in Smithville, MO. that he should stop using the name Drugstore for his restaurant because its not licensed as such.
Justus Drugstore: A Restaurant has gotten the ACLU on its side to fight to keep the name.
I found a list of the Board of Pharmacy's mandates. What do you think? Who is in the right?
- Examining and licensing of applicants;
- Accrediting of pharmacy colleges;
- Renewing
biennially, the licenses of qualified pharmacists, pharmacies, drug
distributors, and renewing annually, the licenses of intern pharmacists;
- Registering and renewing pharmacy technicians annually;
- Investigation
of complaints involving any licensee or registrant received including
public complaints, information from other state and/or federal
agencies, or violations discovered during routine inspections of
pharmacy and drug distributor operations;
- Suspending,
revoking, or placing on probation the license of any pharmacist,
pharmacy, drug distributor, or intern pharmacist found to be in
violation of Chapter 338, RSMo;
- Placing on conditional
registration and maintaining the Technician Employment Disqualification
List for pharmacy technicians found to be in violation of Chapter 338,
RSMo;
- Inspection of pharmacies and drug distributors; and
- Approval of preceptors and intern training pharmacies.

In six weeks, children are supposed to be sitting in classrooms inside seven schools in Independence and Sugar Creek and learning reading, writing and arithmetic.
But, a dispute over who owns those schools and when they'll be handed over has put that in jeopardy.
What do you think? Whose side are you on?

Why do you love to be an American?
With Independence Day this weekend, I thought it'd be fun to hear some stories about why you love being an American? Just like the song says.
Some of mine:
I love to be an American because...
- I know my daughter has limitless possibilities
- I can worship the way I please
- My vote counts
Let's hear yours...

An umpire got hit with a broken bat at the Royals' game Tuesday night.
There's lots of controversy in the MLB world right now that maple bats and more dangerous than ash and are causing all the broken bat problems we've seen recently.
So, what do you think? Is it the new maple bats fault? Is it just part of the game? Or is it something completely different?

Gas prices are impacting all of us with higher fuel prices, and higher food prices. And, don't think our kids are immune.
A few weeks ago, myfoxkc.com began promoting our new gas site. You can find the cheapest gas in Kansas City. 10-year-old Kali wanted to help.
Today, I received a letter from Kali with the prices she's seen around town and how it seems to be impacting the catering company she helps. You can see her letter below. I wanted to help her pass along these prices to you. Maybe it will help someone out there save a few cents.

OMG - You could only see this on the FOX 4 Morning Show! You just never know what's going to happen during a live newscast.
While Don was showing some live pictures from a live shot of dogs, the dogs actually started well... you get the idea.
Don couldn't stop laughing and actually started crying he was laughing so hard.
Seriously, I've seen Don in Superman tights, and interrupted by flying monkeys - but this is the funniest thing I've ever seen.
If you haven't seen it... check it out.
