Where do your reporters get their geographical education?  Can they read a map?

The trucker that was found dead at a rest stop on I29 near Weston threw me.  For one- Weston is not 'near' I29.  I know of a rest stop on I29 at Camden Point/Dearborn area.  (which are located on a map)

From this rest stop you can throw a stone (if you have a good arm) to Platte City and Dearborn, but Weston?  Approximately 10 miles to the WEST!  Surely the police reporting to this area didn't ID it as near Weston!

Not that it matters when there is a dead body, but c'mon.  No one at Fox, or the other KC stations for that matter know a thing about this area north of the airport unless a tornado is going through, and then all we get are reporters saying their location is somewhere between KC and St Joe!

Petty Officer First Class Marcus Luttrell was born in Huntsville, Texas in 1975.

A graduate of BUD/S Class 228, he was the only survivor of the fateful events of June 28, 2005 in Afghanistan. Luttrell and three teammates from SEAL Team TEN were assigned to a reconnaissance mission, operation RED WING, in the Hindu-Kush mountain region of Afghanistan. Their objective was to gather intelligence on Taliban movement in the area. Luttrell’s team was eventually discovered and outnumbered by over 200 Taliban fighters. Petty Officer Luttrell was the only to survive enemy contact. In the rescue mission that ensued, 16 Special Forces personnel, including 8 SEALs, died when their helicopter was shot down by Taliban fighters. It was the largest single-day loss of life in the SEALs’ history.

In 2006, Petty Officer Luttrell was awarded the Navy Cross for combat heroism.

His full story is documented in his heroic account of the operation, entitled: Lone Survivor.

Marcus’s twin brother, Morgan Luttrell, is also a SEAL, still on active duty.

Marcus speaks at the National Rifle Association on May 16th, 2008.

When did it become routine to run non-stop weather reports when we were in a watch?  Doesn't watch mean just that.  Watch for something worse then IF that happens take cover?!  I've actually heard a report via cell phone describe how shakey a stop sign was in the high-winds.  Boy thats graphic.  Thats sure something I want to know non-stop.  They've showed us how wet and full of puddles the parking lots they stand in are.  (OK flooding I can see, but wet parking lots?)  I'm sorry it makes it look idiotic.  Can broadcasters even be taken seriously anymore?  And it takes a college degree!?

Tonight we've witnessed the tank fire at Magellan for hours now.  No injuries.  It is contained to the tank perimeter and it has been non-stop coverage, reporters on the ground, helicopters the whole she-bang.  Is this because its Kansas City?  Are we so starved (naturally drawn as the anchor just said) for this kind of 'entertainment'?!!  NO we are far more intelligent and open minded, its our KC broadcast reporters and producers of our 'news' networks.  They keep repeating it has been burning for hours (as if we don't know) on every single station available.  They keep repeating how far you can feel the heat.  I've known for hours now its 1 mile.  It can be smelt in Gladstone.

Can't all this information be reported on the regular news hours?  Could they not break in occasionally to report of there were evacs (none).  I'm sure glad growing up this wasn't the norm.  For one I would be frightened at every thunderstrike and would probably have grown up very dramatic and prone to sensationalize everything.

The fire equipment has left and the news reports are....you guess it, still reporting!!!    Give me a BREAK!

I checked this on SNOPES and it is TRUE.

Amazing that we still haven't learned from this.
The year is 1907, one hundred years ago......

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people'

Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Every American Citizen needs to read this!  (and illegal immigrant too)

Shawn whats with reviewing movies and referring to the actors as "my man".

This morning I heard about "my man" Jamie Foxx, "my man" Morgan Freeman, and possibly "my man" the Rock?  Maybe you didn't refer to the Rock as 'my man", maybe I missed that one, or you actually didn't because he is of mixed race.

Yeah- I just figured it out, when a black man says "my man" its in reference to another black man.   Perhaps its helpful for the black blind people to know he's talking about another man of their race.   You see, I used to think it meant my 'favorite' or a 'best friend'.  Maybe I'm confusing that with "my main man".

I know this is petty but Shawn and the other am newscasters share their views so I'm just sharing mine.

Explain to me how 2 huge concerts on 2 continents helps global warming?

Do you know how much electricity is needed for the amps alone?  That doesn't include the instruments, the mics, the lighting, the bigt screens, the displays of background lighting, and the coolers and ice for the performers.  This doesn't even include the fuel and emissions for private jets, trailers and cars for transportation and garbage trucks needed to haul the trash that was either incinerated into the atmosphere or dumped into a landfill.

I won't even go into the energy it took to produce, direct, and mass market his documentary.  Is this a pure definition of an oxy moron?

Remember the guy who got on a plane with a bomb built into his shoe and tried to light it?

Did you know his trial is over?
Did you know he was sentenced?
Did you see/hear any of the judge's comments on TV or Radio?
   Didn't think so.

Everyone should hear what the judge had to say.
Ruling by Judge William Young, US District Court.

Prior to sentencing, the Judge asked the defendant if he had anything to say.  His response: After admitting his guilt to the court for the record, Reid also admitted his "allegiance to Osama bin Laden, to Islam, and to the religion of Allah," defiantly stating, "I think I will not apologize for my actions," and told the court "I am at war with your country."

Judge Young then delivered the statement quoted below:

January 30, 2003, United States vs. Reid.

Judge Young:   "Mr. Richard C. Reid, hearken now to the sentence the Court imposes upon you.

On counts 1, 5 and 6 the Court sentences you to life in prison in the custody of the United States Attorney General.  On counts 2, 3, 4 and 7, the Court sentences you to 20 years in prison on each count, the sentence on each count to run consecutively.  (That's 80 years.)

On count 8 the Court sentences you to the mandatory 30 years again, to be served consecutively to the 80 years just imposed.  The Court imposes upon you for each of the eight counts a fine of $250,000 that's an aggregate fine of $2 million.  The Court accepts the government's recommendation with respect to restitution and orders restitution in the amount of $298.17 to Andre Bousquet and $5,784 to American Airlines.

The Court imposes upon you an $800 special assessment. The Court imposes upon you five years supervised release simply because the law requires it. But the life sentences are real life sentences so I need go no further.

This is the sentence that is provided for by our statutes.  It is a fair and just sentence.  It is a righteous sentence.

Now, let me explain this to you.  We are not afraid of you or any of your terrorist co-conspirators, Mr. Reid.  We are Americans.  We have been through the fire before.  There is too much war talk here and I say that to everyone with the utmost respect.  Here in this court, we deal with individuals as individuals and care for individuals as individuals.  As human beings, we reach out for justice.

You are not an enemy combatant.  You are a terrorist.  You are not a soldier in any war.  You are a terrorist.  To give you that reference, to call you a soldier, gives you far too much stature. Whether the officers of government do it or your attorney does it, or if you think you are a soldier.  You are not----- you are a terrorist.  And we do not negotiate with terrorists.  We do not meet with terrorists.  We do not sign documents with terrorists.  We hunt them down one by one and bring them to justice.

So war talk is way out of line in this court.  You are a big fellow. But you are not that big.  You're no warrior.  I've known warriors. You are a terrorist.  A species of criminal that is guilty of multiple attempted murders.  In a very real sense, State Trooper Santiago had it right when you first were taken off that plane and into custody and you wondered where the press and the TV crews were, and he said: "You're no big deal."

What your able counsel and what the equally able United States attorneys have grappled with and what I have as honestly as I know how tried to grapple with, is why you did something so horrific.  What was it that led you here to this courtroom today?

I have listened respectfully to what you have to say. And I ask you to search your heart and ask yourself what sort of unfathomable hate led you to do what you are guilty and admit you are guilty of doing?  And, I have an answer for you.  It may not satisfy you, but as I search this entire record, it comes as close to understanding as I know.

It seems to me you hate the one thing that to us is most precious. You hate our freedom.  Our individual freedom.  Our individual freedom to live as we choose, to come and go as we choose, to believe or not believe as we individually choose.  Here, in this society, the very wind carries freedom.  It carries it everywhere from sea to shining sea.  It is because we prize individual freedom so much that you are here in this beautiful courtroom.  So that everyone can see, truly see, that justice is administered fairly, individually, and discretely.  It is for freedom's sake that your lawyers are striving so vigorously on your behalf, have filed appeals, will go on in their representation of you before other judges.

We Americans are all about freedom.  Because we all know that the way we treat you, Mr. Reid, is the measure of our own liberties.  Make no mistake though.  It is yet t rue that we will bare any burden; pay any price, to preserve our freedoms.  Look around this courtroom.  Mark it well.  The world is not going to long remember what you or I say here.  The day after tomorrow, it will be forgotten, but this, however, will long endure.

Here in this courtroom and courtrooms all across America, the American people will gather to see that justice, individual justice, justice, not war, individual justice is in fact being done.  The very President of the United States through his officers will have to come into courtrooms and lay out evidence on which specific matters can be judged and juries of citizens will gather to sit and judge that evidence democratically, to mold and shape and refine our sense of justice.

See that flag, Mr. Reid?  That's the flag of the United States of America.  That flag will fly there long after this is all forgotten.  That flag stands for freedom.  And it always will.

Mr. Custody Officer.  Stand him down.

So, how much of this Judge's comments did we hear on our TV sets?  We need more judges like Judge Young, but that's another subject.  Pass this around.  Everyone should and needs to hear what this fine judge had to say.  Powerful words that strike home.  God bless America

Now its the Age of Love.  Theres the Bachelor, Science of Love.  Its always some poor guy choosing from 2 dozen or more gorgeous women!  So lucky for them!  Are the producers of these shows men or what?!  We all wonder whats wrong with our young girls, their self-images, confidence, and 'male drama'.  Now as 'entertainment' we have shows that show the little ladies thats its more than normal for a man to get to know many women intimately and you are supposed to not only be okay with it, but vie for his attention the best way you can in competition with other women.  Pitting woman against woman for one single guy.  Those guys hardly ever seems worth it to me!  The next thing you know after the 1st show women are crying and sobbing because their hearts are on their sleeves already.

I've never watched a Bachelor.  I was intriged with Age of Love, but after the second show, I couldn't believe even the women old enough to know better were sobbing too and already attached to the guy.  Its all about 15 minutes of fame, not really finding the love of your life!  On TV no less!

Does it make women look stupid?  Does this take woman way back as 'equals' to our male counterparts?  Do you allow your daughters to view these shows?  I have sons, so is it just me?

KANSAS CITY FARMERS MARKET TODAY, my friend advised me to keep my mouth shut, and for her, I did.   Islamic Muslims where allowed to set up easels, touting passer bys to ask how Islam elevates women in the world, and to ask other questions about Muslims and Islamic faith.

I wanted to ask where they go to bomb school! I wanted to ask why the woman with him was covered up in the 85 deg heat.  I wanted to ask why their Karan states anyone not of Islamic faith was an infidel.  Believe me, had I had a conversation with these people, you would have seen me on the NEWS.

I WILL NOT PATRONIZE THE KANSAS CITY FARMERS MARKET ANYMORE.  I'm sure my one little self, won't affect the hardworking farmers selling there, but they too should open their eyes and speak out against this type of 'free advertising'.  The vendors have to pay for space.  Unless they are entertainment, they should have to buy space.  Bet they wouldn't be there.  And if they did buy space, I wouldn't be anymore satisfied.  I'm in a place in my life where I deplore political correctedness.   They were planted under a tree right in front of the building that has City Market above the orange doors and there are restrooms and an ATM inside.

I think I'll buy a potbellied pig and go sit with them and eat pork rinds in a bikini with a huge crucifix around my neck and read my bible and look at porn!  THEN I'll ask them why their Karan demands hatred of everyone except Islam.

I-29 from south of the airport, to north of the airport to about Mexico City Ave, huge double billboards are going up.   Looks like about 8 of them on the west side of the interstate.  Used to be somewhat of a nice drive with the sun setting in the evening.  From the airport and even from the hotel rooms,  looking west you could see the fields and hills in the distance.  Visitors may not see past the signs now.  The huge iron posts and signs will cover the landscape and provide advertising for all those coming in from the north and from the airport.

We could only hope they will be the digital billboards all lit up and playing little commercials.  Tacky enough?

I'm all for background checks, especially if you work for massive transit.  I would submit a complete background check if I wanted to work anywhere near massive transit.  And he need new guidelines to be employable in these areas:

Islam connections? I wouldn't even consider you employable.

Muslim religion- oops wrong one to worship in this career.

Is Muhammed or Abdul your first name?  I wouldn't even hire you.  You would probably be escorted outside the grounds.

Matter of fact.  Changing your name to Muhammed after converting ot Muslim should be such a bad thing in America no one would even consider it in our country.

Do you wear a towel on your head!  Again, you wouldn't be working for me.

As a matter of fact- declining a passport or plane ticket, for any of the above would be alright with me.

I would still like to know who the guy is at KCI who installed the foot washing basins for KCI Muslim cab drivers?  He must be in the Aviation Dept and he must either be spineless, or Muslim or both.  That is scary.  And sick.

As spoken by Charlie Daniels- just another American:

I don't know how everybody else feels about it, but to me I think Hispanic people in this country, legally or illegally, made a huge public relations mistake with their recent demonstrations.

I don't blame anybody in the world for wanting to come to the

United States of America, as it is a truly wonderful place.

But when the first thing you do when you set foot on American soil is illegal it is flat out wrong and I don't care how many lala land left heads come out of the w oodwork and start trying to give me sensitivity lessons.

I don't need sensitivity lessons, in fact I don't have any-thing against Mexicans!  I just have something against criminals and anybody who comes into this country illegally is a criminal and if you don't believe it try coming into America from a foreign country without a passport and see how far you get. What disturbs me about the demonstrations is that it's tanta-mount to saying, "I am going to come into your country even if it means breaking your laws and there's nothing you can do about it."

It's an "in your face" action and speaking just for me, I don't like it one little bit and if there were a half dozen pairs of gonads in Washington bigger than English peas it wouldn't be happening.

Where are you, you bunch of lily livered, pantywaist, forked tongued, sorry excuses for defenders of The Constitution? Have you been drinking the water out of the Potomac again?
And even if you pass a bill on immigration it will probably be so pork laden and watered down that it won't mean anything anyway Besides, what good is another law going to do when you won't enforce the ones on the books now?

And what ever happened to the polls, guys?  I thought you folks were the quintessential finger wetters.  Well you sure ain't paying any attention to the polls this time because somewhere around eighty percent of Americans want some thing done about this mess, and mess it is and getting bigger everyday.

This is no longer a problem, it is a dilemma and headed for being a tragedy.  Do you honestly think that what happened in France with the Muslims can't happen here when the businesses who hire these people finally run out of jobs and a few million disillusioned Hispanics take to the streets?

If you, Mr. President, Congressmen and Senators, knuckle under on this and refuse to do something meaningful it means that you car e nothing for the kind of country your children and grand-children will inherit.  But I guess that doesn't matter as long as you get re-elected. Shame on you.  One of the big problems in America today is that if you have the nerve to say anything derogatory about any group of people (except Christians) you are going to be screamed at by the media and called a racist, a bigot and anything else they can think of to call you

Well I've been pounded by the media before and I'm still rockin' and r ollin' and when it comes to speaking the truth I fear not.
And the truth is that the gutless, gonadless, milksop politicia ns are just about to sell out the United States of America because they don't have the intestinal fortitude to stand up to face reality.

And reality is that we would never allow any other group of people to have 12 million illegal in this country and turn around and say, "Oh it's ok, ya'll can stay here if you'll just allow us to slap your wrist."  And I know that some of you who read this column are saying "Well what's wrong with that?"
I'll tell you what's wrong with it.  These people could be from Mars as far as we know.  We don't know who they are, where they are or what they're up to and the way the Congress is going we're not going to.

Does this make sense?  Labor force you say?  We already subsidize corporate agriculture as it is, must we subsidize their labor as well?  I f these people were from Haiti would we be so fast to turn a blind eye to them or if they were from Somalia or Afghanistan ?  I think not.

All the media shows us are pictures of hard working Hispanics who have crossed the border just to try to better their life.
They don't show you pictures of the Feds rounding up members of MS 13, the violent gang who came across the same way the decent folks did.  They don't tell you about the living cond itions of the Mexican illegal some fat cat hired to pick his crop.

I want to make two predictions.

No. 1: This situation is going to grow and fester until it erupts in violence on our streets while the wimps in Washington drag their t oes in the dirt and try to figure how many tons of political hay they can make to the acre.

No 2: Somebody is going to cross that border with some kind of weapon of mass destruction and set it off in a major American city after which there will be a backlash such as this country has never experienced and the Capitol building in Washington will probably tilt as Congressmen and Senators rush to the other side of the issue.

I don't know about you but I would love to see just one major politician stand up and say, "I don't care who I make mad  and I don't care how many votes I lose, this is a desperate situation and I'm going to lead the fight to get it straightened out."
I don't blame anybody for wanting to come to America , but if you don't respect our immigration laws why should you respect any others?
And by the way, this is America and our flag has stars and stripes

Please get that other one out of my face.

God Bless America

Charlie Daniels

I'm not for shutting our borders down completely.  My thought is- as twisted as some may think- if you have legitimate business in America, vacation or another valid reason, you must be on a temporary visa.  If they choose to stay, they must pass several checkpoints toward their citizenship test.  They must prove they abide by the laws of the temporary visa system, and be a gainfully employed taxpayer.  They must learn and use only English unless in their own home.  Only immediate family, husband, wife, kids can come together, and all must become citizens if choosing to stay past temporary visa system.  There should be a substantial 'deposit' for a temporary visa.  Let's say $5,000 for one individual or a family.  This deposit will be returned upon notification that you have returned yourself and your visa to your home country, minus $500 for administrative costs for implementing the system.  If you choose to stay and test out for citizenship, this is what it will cost you, so it isn't refunded if you pass citizenship.  If any visitor is working on the temporary visa in the US then a special income tax of 10% will be assessed along with the regular taxes for city, state and federal.  This immigrant worker income tax should be deposited into our social security system.  Along with the visa system I think we could utilize the bracelet system.  Ankle,  wrist, doesn't matter really.   I think wrist would work for all, women, men, even children.  You know, like they use for house arrest?  They must wear it during their visit on temporary visa.  It is embedded with personal identification information and it expires just like a visa.  Only instead of just expiring, like our current visa system, it emits a signal so that we know we have someone who has broken the law and is now in our country illegally.  If tampered with they emit the same signal.  If the signal goes off for either expiration or tampering- you are out and you and anyone in your immediate family will not be allowed to return to US for ANY reason.  The embedded information can be tracked by location.  The signaling immediately sends notification and location.  If location ends up being just the bracelet and the visitor isn't with the bracelet, then there will be immediate action taken against the illegal and their immediate family.  The whereabouts of the illegal and their immediate family (whether in this country with perpetrator or not) will now be monitored by America.  Of course the return of the $5000 'deposit' is revoked.

I would be willing to do the same for any country I visit.  I will gladly leave a deposit and wear a bracelet.  I would even feel safer.  I could go to Aruba and know my body will be found if my visa expires and I have been murdered.  Think about it

Many riders say they prefer to ride without helmets, and tonight it was reported they may win the fight to change the Mo helmet law.  On one hand I think to each their own.  But it would be a shame to lose a life or loved one over a head injury in a minor accident.

I'm not one that thinks we need a big brother running our lives.  Maybe it will turn out to be a natural process of 'sorting them out'.  The most intelligent riders may wear them and live on, when those wanting to 'feel' the wind over protecting their brains may be 'sorted out'.  Perhaps they not only need to show proof of insurance, but also long term disability or extended care insurance so that when they end up in a nursing home blowing on a straw to operate their wheelchair, the state of Mo won't have to pick up the bill.

I just don't understand why they enforced a law that everyone shall wear seatbelts in our cars or be fined, yet may allow riders of an engine with a seat to go unprotected by headgear.

Seems to be an oxymoron.
