I haven't heard anything today about the truck shutdown today except my husband's employer told him to pull it over this morning in Paducah KY. He has no info about how long he's going to be there or anything. Is this for 3 days? Any info out there at all?

If it's true then the railroad will make a bigger profit.

It is only a short term blip. It's just like those people that say they are not going to fill up on x date. They will need to fill up eventually so the effort is useless. Only if they permanently quit driving would it have an impact.

You're right. They already told him to get back on the road.

So Jdem, when did a protest become anything more than a group of people speaking they're mind and asking for a change? So protest are useless? I think a good non violent protest is a good exercise of our american rights (while we still have them), but that's just me.

I never said a protest is wrong. I am just saying some of them will not be effective. If everyone protested one particular company, for instance Conoco. Then you could have some impact because everyone would go to another station. It's a big windfall for the other gas company but Conoco could be shut down.

Freedom of speech gives us the right to protest and I agree with that, but just because you protest doesn't mean someone will take action. Protestors have been in the park near the Plaza for years but we are still in Iraq.

I have lived in both Kansas Cities, having moved to the Kansas side about 15 years ago. I love the diversity of KCK! I'm not real thrilled with the property tax, but thats another show! I am the mother of 2, a grandmother of 4 and the wife of a truck driver. I consider my family my best asset. I only hope to live long enough to be a burden to all of them! I collect butter churns, door knockers and prosthetic limbs. I used to drive in the demolition derby. My life has always been a circus and I'm the biggest clown!
