Neighbors of mine have a dead dog in the back yard -been there for 3 days called action center said no one will come out and get it because it is private property, yet im missing out on this beautiful weather cause none of us neighbors can sit out side because of the smell, makes me want to throw up,what i dont understand is why the people that owned the dog are just leaving it there, talked to the action center again today they say it is in neighborhood preservation hands, what about animal control, isnt this a health issue as well.thern the action center tells me well there is nothing we can do our hands are tied,if the action centers hand are always tied on so many issues then what good are they ?now they tell me that someone is on their way,to give the owner of the dog an option get rid of the dog or you get a ticket, what if they choose the ticket ?then i guess we still have a rotting dead dog carcaus in their yard and we all still have to stay inside ,talk about being a prisoner in your own home -and the action center is the warden.i dont know what to do if they dont come and get the dog.i guess the smell will go away in a few weeks.

Call your Mayor and e mail him about the situation, notate each person you have talked to about this problem with name and position. If nothing is done take pictures and send those to the GOv.'s office, this is people not doing their job. That is discusting, and is a public health issue when maggots infestation takes place, the smell. What about the owner is he alive?

Keep all neighborhoods clean and safe until the government decides where they are going to park all dealers and users. Not an islan big enough, I know.

About the dead dog thing, talking to the action center as im on hold ,talking to a supervisor Spencerhe doesnt have good standing with me because the first time i called the action center on another matter he was snotty, and rude, and was no help at all tonight he tells me that the animal control person gave them one more option, not sure what that entails -but they did not pick up the dead dog, said they would pick it up tomarrow ,what was wrong with tonight when he was here -does the city know that gas is $4.00 gal, thats ok the taxpayers will take care of itthey have plenty of money to waste for two trips when it could have been done in one.

Hey, if you wait long enough, it'll stop smelling eventually.

yes i know the smell will go away if i wait long enough-but meanwhile im paying out tax money for a department that is becoming more and more inefficent, and they dont care cause they are getting a check every week or so,if i was inefficent in my business i would have one very long

hhhws.....sorry when you moved here you ended up in Ruskin. It was not always as it is now. I grew up there, survived the '57 tornado, had a great childhood and graduated from the high school in '70 when it was still triple A accredited and the biggest thing we had to worry about was what pranks the students might play on "senior skip day". It has turned into a ghetto that I'm scared to drive through just to take a look at the "old" neighborhood for old time's sake. Get out if you can!

I know what you are saying,we are looking at options but short of winning the lottery, they are limited, our house is payed for but i dont think we can sell it the way the market is,and it is one of the better houses in ruskin with all of the remodleing we've done to it and all of the updates,we could be stuck till we die -maybe id rather be dead, than be here

sick. who leaves their dead dog in the back yard to rot.

well.. my parents bought a house in ruskin that DID NOT survive the tornado. thank god.

if you die there - don't call the action center. :)

rosco - read the website.

i think they're opting for "composting" of the dead animal. hummm, has anyone thrown some dirt on it? that would qualify for "on site burial"

I would never leave my dead dog in the back yard to rot-pretty bad if you ask me -but if i die here maybe they will just put me in the back yard to rot
