BLUE ASH, Ohio – Police in Ohio say an 89-year-old woman is facing a charge of petty theft because neighborhood children accuse her of refusing to give back their football.

Edna Jester was arrested last week in the Cincinnati suburb of Blue Ash.

Police say one child's father complained that Jester kept the youngsters' ball after it landed in her yard. Police Capt. James Schaffer says there has been an ongoing dispute in the neighborhood over kids' balls landing in the woman's yard.

Jester said Monday she has received many calls and didn't have time to discuss the matter any more.

Jester is to appear in court next month. The maximum penalty for a petty theft conviction in Ohio is six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.

That would be the parents of the children taking the elderly lady to court. Next time she needs to take the parents to court for treaspassing, hope she post her sign, and sue for any damages, and turn the parents in for child neglect or lack of supervision, that would teach them.

The kids and parents should both be ashamed of themselves! The parents need to teach the kids some respect!

I think all parties involved are being stupid. Parents should not be taking granny to court, they should drop the charges... granny should have given the ball back when the cops asked her too.
Granny needs more visits from family members to cut back on some of her crotchetiness (dont know if that is a word.. but it works)

Stealing the kids ball, it doesn't get lower than that.

Lock her up, let her play on the prison team with Michael Vick. She could be a Wide Receiver.

I don't think this is very funny. That poor woman is 89 years old for God's sake! This is where our country has fallen, this is where we are. We need to wake up, people. Socialism, and now this!

This has been going on forever and we wonder why the country is in the mess. In the Reagan years it was all about sue this, sue that and get all the money. In the Clinton years it was about don't make anybody mad be politically correct and for the last 8 horrible years we just let our country go to war and not care about our own, so they made this word up called socialism (you might want to look in the dictionary and find the real meaning) because I don't think you will find that is what is really going on. I agree with that both parties are wrong and getting know your neighbors and being a little nice might go a long ways. Or is that socialism too???

Over the hill and going up the next one,and after reading many of the politically motivated blogs here I just want to say,an airplane can't fly with just one wing whether it be right wing or a left wing it will just fly in circles like a dog chasing its tail.
