When we expectected nothing from Huard he gave his all and we won, when we expectected something from Green he has given us nothing, but loses. Perhaps it is time for KC to rethink their QB position.

I've been living and working in Kansas City for over 10 years, and I hear so much about the failing school district. At first like so many people in our community I was apathetic. I don't have kids, who cares. Then a very dear friend who has been teaching in the district said, "Whether you have children or not, the children in KCMSD will affect you. They will either be the young thug car jacking you or the young doctor saving your live in the ER."
As I let that thought marinate for a few days, I began thinking about the state of the school district. At first, I wondered if the teachers were just bad or the kids just weren't as smart. But then I began talking to friends that were teachers/principals and I started paying attention to news articles and stories about the district. I began thinking about how the district ran it's business. Finally after much thought on what is wrong with our local schools I came to a conclusion. The schools had not failed Kansas City, Kansas City had failed the schools.
Did you know that Kansas City has not passed a school levy issue since 1967? Yes, that is correct! 1967! Sure they got lots of desegragation money for awhile, but had school boards who played political games with it. Now that money has run out and we still have a school board that still plays politics. So now you say, A ha! It is not the community it is the school board. Well, we are the ones who elect them. And in recent years I have not seen too many hotly contested races. Our school board goes through superintendents like termites go through wood. There is no stability. Just when it seemed that the district was headed in the right direction, they got rid of the superintendent because he didn't play politics they liked.
Speaking of politics and superintendents, what about this new superintendent? I give him less than a year to finish the job of completely demolishing the district. But you'll have to read more about that in my next blog.
As a final thought I'd just like to say education in no longer about children, it is about money, power and politics.
