Clarksville Police Department Makes History
The Clarksville Police Department is the first in the nation to put pictures of missing children on its cruisers.
Colleen Nick, Executive Director for the Morgan Nick Foundation says it's a great way to get the word out.
She says, "Two thousand children are reported missing every single day
and it's an epidemic that we can fight and when law enforcement is
willing to step up and put the picture on their police cruisers,
children are going to come home."
When drivers see a police cruiser they usually slam on their brakes.
Clarksville police say they hope drivers see the pictures of missing children and help bring a child home.
"Nothing greater could ever happen in my mind that a child was
recovered because we took a little extra step and put theses on our
cars," says Clarksville Police Chief, Greg Donaldson.
This event brought families with missing children from all over the United States.
Shannon Tanner says her daughter Bianca disappeared in 2005 from their home in Missouri.
She says putting Bianca's picture on the back of a police car brings her hope.
"To show Bianca's picture in another state is great, because these
people probably haven't seen her pictures and it opens up a whole new
world of people being able to access what she looks like and know who
to look for," says Tanner.
One out every six missing children is recovered because someone sees
their picture and the Clarksville Police Department hopes it does just
that.
Clarksville Police say they have 24 missing children on the back of
their cruisers and hope other police departments across the country
will step up and help spread the word.

From Branson's mother:I was contacted by the Morgan Nick Foundation on Thursday
Morning. They have partnered with the Clarksville ,
Arkansas Police Department to
feature missing persons on the Police Cars. This is the first that anything
like this has ever been done as far as anyone knows….What an incredible
idea! Anyway, Linda, the amazing lady who takes care of Branson’s
website, found out about this and contacted them earlier that week asking if
they would consider featuring Branson. Originally they were only planning on doing
this on 11 cars and featuring 21 children. After talking to Linda, they
decided that they also wanted to feature Branson!!!! Since they didn’t
decide to do this until Thursday morning, his screen print was not able to be
put on the car in time for the debuting of the cars. They didn’t even
think they would be able to get the print done and so they had made a poster
board with Branson’s pictures on it. However, when they called the
company that made the prints, they put a rush on the job and was able to get it
done that day. A member of the Morgan Nick Foundation drove the hour to the business
to pick it up that night at 7:30 PM. While they were not able to get it on the
car in time, they did have what it would look like there!
Jim and I attended the event in
Clarksville on Friday, and I can honestly say
that I have never been to such an event that made me feel the way I did during
these past 7 years. It was a simple, yet extremely moving presentation…..Chief
Greg Donaldson has such compassion about finding missing persons, even though
it has not directly touched his life…..or his town. I believe that if
every officer would feel the way he does, then there would be far less missing
persons in this country! You can tell his men….and even the town….all
feel the way he does….it was incredible. His dream….and now mine….is
to see all law enforcement to follow what he is doing…..there were
several law enforcement there from surrounding areas down there that were in
attendance and he even challenged them.
Colleen, the mother of missing Morgan Nick, spoke and I don’t
believe there was a dry eye in attendance. It was so moving and incredibly
personal….and yet….the determination and hope that she portrayed……I
just don’t have words to describe it all.
When we went outside to see the vehicles, they had the
parents that were in attendance go out first for a few ‘private’
moments. I can honestly say that it took my breath away. The cars were all
lined up in a row, with the officers dressed in full uniform standing next to
each car. It was as if each officer was watching over the children…and
willing to protect them with every breath they took….It was amazing.
I cannot begin to thank the Morgan Nick Foundation, the
Clarksville Police Department, and the town of
Clarksville enough for what they are doing.
I know many of you think, but that isn’t even close to here…how
could it possibly help…..and I say…..you never know where a tip
might come from…..the more people that are aware of a missing person…the
more chances you have in finding them or finding out what happened. When a
police car is seen, you don’t speed up as a rule, you slow down and take
a look at what is going on….they are probably the most looked at vehicle
on the road…..wouldn’t it be amazing if every police car in the
country would follow their lead and display missing people on their vehicles???
I would venture to say that so many more children would be found….and a
lot sooner…..
There are pictures of the cars on Branson’s website if
you want to take a look. The screen prints are very cool…..looking from
inside the car, you can see out without any problems, but from the outside….well….it
just looks like a picture! Like I said, they didn’t have the time to
have Branson’s put on the car yet, but they will be doing it this week!
God Bless All of You!

disappeared under mysterious circumstances from a lot adjacent to his
Missouri home at the 300 block of West Oak Street, in broad daylight.
Branson was helping a friend when he went to retrieve jumper cables
from a near by shed when he vanished leaving no clues for investigators

Branson’s Grandmother first realized he was missing

Branson nowhere in sight. All of his personal belongings, including his

no one knows how they got their or who put them there, said," Rebecca
Perry, the mother of Branson Perry.
“Long term missing person
cases are difficult for families that are left behind to deal with an
unknown fate”, said Monica Caison, CUE’s founder. Families who suffer
long term never reach a level of understanding – acceptance, like some
may thing; it can bring a heighten anxiety instead, Mrs. Caison, added.
The one thing that is commonly shared among families of the missing is
they all believe that each community holds information to their case
and they all continue to hold out hope that someone will step up and do
the right thing..
Family and friends of the missing man will
gather and host a fund raising benefit in his honor in hopes that the
visibility will bring forth new leads or tips for law officials; the
purpose for the fund raiser is to use funds to increase the current

each year that goes by we miss Branson even more, said Branson's

Boy Goes Missing, Adding Another Tragedy to Family

Dec 26 2007
SKIDMORE, Mo. -- It's a bizarre disappearance. It's almost like 20-year-old Branson Perry disappeared off the face of the earth.
A sweet but shy boy who loved the outdoors. That's how Klino remembers her son, Branson Perry.
It's been almost seven years, and still she's no closer to having any answers about what happened
"The
police do believe there is foul play involved, but no one is willing to
talk or come forward with information right now," said Klino.
A friend said Branson took some jumper cables out to the shed behind the house and never returned.
Klino said the holiday's are the hardest time.
"You put on a face and try to make it through it and don't let your emotions bring everyone else down," she said.
Over
the years it was difficult for his mother to keep her son's story in
the news. But then stranger offered to help. Branson's mom calls her an
angel. That stranger was a woman named Linda. She set up a new website,
sites on myspace and facebook. She got branson on missing persons
websites and on the america's most wanted site
"She's been pretty much a godsend," said Klino. "It's not something I can handle doing very long at a time."
It's
almost hard to believe a thing like this could happen in small town
America. But Skidmore is known for making headlines. An infamous town
bully murdered in 1981 in broad daylight. The case remains unsolved.
And more recently, Bobbie Jo Stinnet, murdered for her unborn baby.
BOBBI JO STINNETTBut
Branson's family in particular is close to tragedy. Bobbi Jo Stinnet's
husband, Zeb, is Branson's cousin. Another of Branson's cousins, Wendy
Gillenwater, was beaten to death by her boyfriend.
"You almost wonder if you believe in curses," Klino said. "Does our family have a curse? But I don't believe in curses though."
Klino can't think about curses because she's still hoping for a happy ending.
"I pray that he's still out there and I pray he'll come home," she said.
Branson's family is offering a $10,000 reward for information.

Lamar aims to bring light to Branson Perry case
SKIDMORE, Mo.
— Becky Klino hopes a larger-than life image of her son’s face in
lights will stir someone’s memory about his nearly seven year-long
disappearance.
The Lamar Advertising Co. recently placed two
electronic billboards along the Belt Highway — at Sherman Avenue and
Gene Field Road — that display Branson Perry’s face and contact
information to help jog the memory of those with possible tips. It’s an
effort that Lamar officials believe could turn the case toward
resolution.
Mr. Perry disappeared April 11, 2001, from his
Skidmore, Mo., home when he was 20 years old. He left the residence on
foot and said he was taking a pair of jumper cables to a shed on a lot
adjacent to the family home. Ms. Klino admitted she can’t afford the
cost of large stateof-the-art billboards.
But the possibility
of new progress in finding Mr. Perry is precisely why Lamar has
decided not to charge for displaying his photo, said vice
president/general manager Bob Fessler, with the company’s Kansas City
office.
“We want to get more awareness” about Mr. Perry, he said. “It’s out there 24 hours.”
Mr.
Fessler said the company started displaying major crimes on its
billboards with the Ali Kemp case in the Kansas City area in 2002.
A
rendition of an artist’s sketch of a suspect included with a Crime
Stoppers phone number told the public about a fugitive wanted in Ms.
Kemp’s murder. The signs have proven themselves in creating tips with a
Crime Stoppers phone number told the public about a fugitive wanted in
Ms. Kemp’s murder.
The signs have proven themselves in creating
tips and are also being used to release information about missing
children and weather alerts, he said.
“We treat (such cases) just like we would any other public service,” Mr. Fessler said.
To
Ms. Klino, anything that puts Mr. Perry’s face before many eyes is
worth the effort. She expressed “incredible gratefulness” at Lamar’s
assistance.
She’s placed several plywood signs about her son in
Nodaway County. She and supporters plan to hold a fundraiser in
mid-April — near the date Mr. Perry disappeared — in Skidmore on
behalf of search efforts.
Nodaway County Sheriff Ben Espey
said there are no new leads in the case. A possible breakthrough in
Oregon, Mo., didn’t pan out, he said. “He didn’t give us any
information we didn’t already know,” Mr. Espey said of the tipster.
Billboards
and other signs can be effective by informing the public about
potential rewards that can be remitted for valuable information, he
said.
The Branson Perry electronic billboards will continue operating in St. Joseph indefinitely, Mr. Fessler said.

Man Still Missing, But Not Forgotton
1/18/08Time
has not brought the needed answers in the disappearance of Branson
Perry, Skidmore, who has been missing now for seven years.
The
search carries on through various venues and an effort is constantly
made to keep Branson's name heard and his picture viewed in hopes that
someone will come forward with information leading to answers. Branson
Perry was last seen in Skidmore at his home by a friend. Branson, who
would now be 26, was cleaning his home in preparation for his father's
return from the hospital on April 11, 2001. Although events of that day
are sketchy, he was last seen after telling a friend he was taking
jumper cables to a shed on the property. Oddly, the jumper cables never
made it to the shed on that fateful day and Branson has not been seen
since. Leaving behind his personal belongings he apparently vanished
without a trace. A mystery follows the jumper cables which were not
lost with Branson and returned to the shed shortly after Branson's
disappearance. Even though no concrete answers have come to head, foul
play is now suspected in his disappearance. His mother, Becky Klino,
still waits for answers.
Branson has been featured on the Road
to Remember Tour which stopped in Craig, Mo. this summer. He is also
listed on several missing persons websites and has been featured on
America's Most Wanted. These organizations keep an active voice for
missing persons so they will not to be forgotten.
April 11, 2008
marks 7 years since Branson Perry disappeared. The day won't pass
unnoticed as a day of remembrance will be observed. Jannel Rap of the
band Clementine and founder of website www.411gina.org
is making arrangements for a concert on that day. Plans are underway,
but a location and time has not been confirmed to date. Other planned
future activities are searches put on by Cue Center, www.ncmissingpersons.org, and Texas Equusearch, www.texasequusearch.org.
The
search continues for more information leading to Branson's
disappearance. The family offers a $10,000 reward and a $25,000
recording contract is also offered by Castle Records,www.castlerecords.com out of Nashville,
Tn. The recording contract can be used for the person coming forward or
for someone they nominate. It is hoped these rewards will encourage
those with information to come forward.
