I'm familiar with quite a few Neil Diamond songs.  I'm sure many people are; that's what happens when you've sold 120 million records.  But I'd never heard the two songs David Cook performed last night.  Maybe that made it easier for me to just enjoy them as his own stuff... either way, I thought he did great last night... clearly the best of the remaining five.  Hopefully the votes reflect that tonight.

Once again yesterday, we dropped in on Susan Cooper, the theater teacher at Blue Springs South High School.  She went home sick yesterday, but actually agreed to head back up to school to let us take a look at some fo David's high school theater performances, so thanks again, Susan.  We appreciate it.  She even let us take the VHS tapes of the shows so we could use them in our story.  Turns out that was a lot more of an ordeal that it should have been... there aren't too many VCRs around these days, even at a TV station!

Susan talked about how the musical theater David did in high school helps him as an overall performer today and is one of the factors that give him an edge on American Idol.  You can take a look at two of the songs he did from "Singing in the Rain" and "West Side Story" here on our website.

Yesterday, we also heard official conformation for the first time that David will be coming back to Blue Springs at the end of next week to visit.  I'm pretty sure a parade is also scheduled, so I'll end with a question for all of you: do you plan to be out there and check out the parade in person?

Dave

Thanks so much for letting us know about the parade. My family and I are big fans and we will try to come.
